Thank you for donating £6000 to Calvert Trust Exmoor.

Calvert Trust Exmoor logo“Calvert Trust Exmoor provides vital therapy to over 4,000 disabled adults and children every year. Through our programme of outdoor accessible activities, we see first hand the powerful, positive impact equine assisted therapy can have,” explains Sally Atkinson, the charity’s Fundraising and Marketing Manager.

“We welcome people of all ages with all disabilities to spend time with our horses, groom them, learn how to care for them, ride and even carriage drive through the beautiful Devon countryside.

“While our horses are kept outdoors all year round, the stable block, tack room and yard play an important part in their day. Each horse has their own stable where they are groomed and tacked up ready for riding sessions in the arena or for a walk round the stunning Wistlandpound Reservoir.

“The welfare of our horses is paramount and with the grant of £6,000 provided by the Petplan Charitable Trust we have been able to replace the old worn out rubber matting in the stables. Newly fitted, easy to clean matting has been installed throughout ensuring a comfortable and hygienic environment for both horses and visitors and less stress for our yard staff.

“In addition, we were able to purchase specially made wheelchair accessible weighing scales which provide a more accurate rider to horse weight ratio when we are matching horses with their new riders.

“The funding from Petplan Charitable Trust has made a huge difference to the welfare of our horses and to the experience of our disabled riders. We are truly grateful for this support, thank you PPCT from our happy horses and riders!”
