Safe Haven for Donkeys

“Thank you so much to the Petplan Charitable Trust for the extremely generous grant of £4,500 to Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land.

It will mean that we can start improving the lives of working horses, mules and donkeys in Bethlehem, Hebron and surrounding areas and we are deeply grateful.”

Founded in 2000, Safe Haven for Donkeys is dedicated to helping the thousands of working donkeys in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

The charity’s sanctuary in Israel currently provides a permanent haven for about 200 unwanted and abused donkeys of all ages. Alongside both a mobile and a permanent clinic, the charity also provides advice and enducation to owners and their families. Common injuries they treat arise from things such as poor harnessing, poor hoof care and bad teeth. These are easily treatable but make a huge difference to the animals’ quality of life.
