Jilly Cooper is one of the UK’s most popular writers whose novels have repeatedly rocketed up the bestseller lists. Animals in War, Jilly’s classic depiction of animals in wartime, was reissued in March 2000 to coincide with the launch of the Animals In War Memorial Campaign. The memorial was unveiled in Park Lane in November 2004. In the same year, Jilly received an OBE for Services to Literature and Charity.

Memory Capsule Example

To give you an idea of what your Memory Capsule might look like, here’s one  created by a member of the Trust’s team.

Original music composed by Mark Simpson

Instead of a poem, you might prefer to give your capsule its own unique atmosphere with one of these specially composed tracks.

Mark Simpson

Mark has many years’ experience playing sessions on drums (and can be heard on numerous tracks on Audio Network) and more recently completed a film scoring & music course at Goldsmiths University under the tutelage of composer, Mariano Nunez-West. Mark primarily composes on piano / keyboard and cello, and his compositions include a wide variety of styles, from modern to 4-part choral works.

Mark worked for Petplan Limited for over 20 years, but is now a full-time musician. As well as composing, you will still find Mark playing jazz gigs on drums in London and East Anglia where he grew up. Mark’s love of rhythm & playing drums means that he often utilises subtle poly-rhythmic phrases and rhythms in his music.

You will be able to select from these tracks when you create your Memory Capsule. Listen now:
