HorseWorld currently cares for 106 equines, most of whom live across 150 acres of grazing land.
“Our priority is the physical health and mental wellbeing of the rescued horses in our care, and we are constantly striving to find new ways to support the welfare of the ‘whole horse’,” explains Lizy Kacou, Grants and Trust Manager.
The charity allows the equines plenty of space to roam, socialise and forage in naturalistic herds. Such a large site inevitably creates logistical challenges. A lot of time is spent by staff moving horses from the fields to the yard where they can be safely handled. Some horses who have suffered trauma might not be in a suitable mindset to be walked in-hand for long distances.
The new Remote Grooming Area has been erected at the junction of three fields covering 22 acres of pasture.
“Here at HorseWorld we are very excited to say that our Remote Grooming Shelter is up! Thank you so much for so generously supporting this project,” says Kacou. “It is already making a world of difference to the equines in our care and helping the grooms deliver the best care.”
