Founded in March 2012, Sunshine Cat Rescue is a cat charity based near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire. The bulk of the charity’s work involves taking in sick or unwanted cats and finding them loving new homes. It also helps to care for colonies of feral cats in the Oxfordshire area.
Sunshine Cat Rescue operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week in its mission to help the cats of Oxfordshire. Rescue cats are nursed back to health (if necessary) and placed up for adoption so that they can find forever homes. Feral cats are cared for in their own environment and released back following any necessary veterinary treatment. As part of its work to help the local feline population, Sunshine covers the cost of routine neutering to prevent litters of unwanted kittens.
The charity also needs to pay for emergency veterinary treatment for ill-treated or injured cats such as Kevin. Kevin is a stray cat found in rural Oxfordshire with open wounds to his neck and front leg. Through its dedicated work, Sunshine Cat Rescue ensures a happy outcome for the cats that come into its care.
Sunshine Cat Rescue relies on donations to keep running, and regularly organises fundraising events to help pay the bills. The Petplan Charitable Trust was delighted to contribute to the charity’s important work with a £3,000 grant. This covered the cost of neutering fifteen cats, working with eleven local veterinary surgeries. Some of the neutered cats were feral and were later released back into their colony. The grant also helped to pay for special dietary food for cats in the care of Sunshine Cat Rescue, as well as flea and worm treatment to ensure happy, healthy cats.
